Welcome to the Historic Eve House, a charming retreat built in 1798 by William Eve.

Nestled in the heart of Madison, Virginia, this fully renovated historic home offers a unique blend of old-world charm and modern comfort. Designed for relaxation, the Eve offers well-appointed areas to unwind, including private bedrooms and a cozy library. The spacious living room, dining room, kitchen, and private back patio were thoughtfully designed with socializing and entertainment in mind.

Although the house was built in 1798, guests will enjoy modern conveniences, including smart TVs, WiFi, laundry, and a full kitchen with everything you need to make grand meals. Inhale peace in the fresh Shenandoah air on the porch rockers or take in the surrounding gardens while you barbecue and lounge on the expansive back patio. Play games, solve puzzles, and read books from the well-stocked entertainment closet.

Where You’ll Sleep

We’ve designed each room in the Eve House to provide a perfect blend of historical charm and modern luxury, ensuring a memorable and comfortable stay for all our guests. All four bedrooms and the living room include original fireplaces and antique furnishings with contemporary fixtures, including brand-new plush mattresses and bedding; antique wardrobes, vanities, and bed frames; a selection of towels; USB outlets; and speedy WiFi internet.

  • The French Room

    This ground-floor room was designed with older guests in mind but is equally comfortable for guests of any age. Equipped with a queen bed, side tables, two lamps, a vanity, and USB plugs to charge your devices, the French Room also has a large closet and is the closest to the first-floor bathroom.

  • The Raleigh Room

    Ideal for families or best friends, this room has two queen beds, a dresser, side tables, and touch lamps. Hang your clothes in the two closets and charge your devices in the USB-equipped table lamps.

  • The Washington Room

    Sleep soundly in this cozy, antique four-post mahogany bed. The room is outfitted with a vanity, wardrobe to hang clothes, chair, side tables, bedside lamps, and USB plug-in to charge devices.

  • The Lorraine Room

    Furnished with a wardrobe to hang clothes, a side table, a bedside lamp, and a twin bed, this room is perfect for a solo traveler or young family member.

  • The Living Room

    The blue sofa in the living room unfolds into a sofa bed for an additional sleeping area. The living room also offers privacy with two latchable doors.

Other Spaces

The spacious living room features four plush couches, a smart TV to stream your favorite platforms, and a game table perfect for family fun or friendly competition. There’s plenty of space to stretch out and relax after a day of exploring. Adjacent to the living room, you’ll find a serene library equipped with a comfortable couch, a desk for any remote work needs, and another smart TV. The Eve House offers two full bathrooms, one on each floor, ensuring ample facilities for all guests, and a half-bath off the kitchen. Additionally, the laundry room off the kitchen is equipped with a washer and dryer, laundry soap, dryer sheets, an iron, ironing board, and steamer.

  • We have a strict two-night minimum policy. The house is quite large and a considerable undertaking for our cleaning team. When you book directly on stayinmadisonva.com, you won't be charged a cleaning fee. We also hope people will stay and enjoy the house and the surrounding area, which is best to do over several days.

  • The Eve House check-in time can be flexible depending on whether or not it is booked the night before. You are always welcome to ask, and we will accommodate when we're able based on our cleaning schedule and house availability.

  • The house is equipped with smoke alarms throughout, carbon monoxide monitor, fire extinguishers, and a first aid kit. It is old, so some floors are slanted and some ceilings and doorways are low. We encourage all guests to exercise caution.

    Security cameras are mounted outside the Eve House for everyone protection. Guests can contact the owners directly through the front porch Ring cam. Security cameras are not installed inside the house and are exclusively used to monitor the exterior for safety.

    The first-floor full bathroom includes a seat in the shower and bars. Note that the house is not ADA compliant and is not suitable for guests in wheelchairs.

  • The Eve House contains some fragile items, so we ask that guests with children keep an eye on their little ones. Aside from that, the house is equipped with games and toys, as well as a single bedroom that a child would love. The two-bed bedroom also has a fold-away cot for a young child to sleep in. The house does not include a changing table, pack-n-play, or high chair.

  • Each bed is made with a clean set of sheets, its own pillows, and blankets. Additionally, you'll find a set of towels in each room upon arrival. If needed, we can provide additional sheets and/or towels.

  • Events are allowed at the Eve House when planned in advance with the owners. A security deposit, event fee, and event consultation are mandatory to host a party at the Eve.

  • A late checkout may be possible depending on the cleaning crew's schedule and when the next guests will arrive. Please inquire.
